Gala with Renee Fleming

Twenty-five years ago Renée Fleming made her Lyric Opera debut as the namesake in Susannah by Carlisle Floyd. Last month, we celebrated the anniversary of that debut with a gala performance featuring amazing voices and a beautiful solo turn by concertmaster Robert Hanford, all emceed by host Tituss Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt). Many of us who played in the pit for Susannah 25 years ago were still able to park our motorized scooters and climb the steps of the foyer for this photo with Renée and our maestro for the gala, Patrick Summers. A lot has changed since 1993, but our dedication to music and love of opera is as vibrant as ever.
