Thank You to Labor Unions

The Chicago Lyric Opera Orchestra is thankful for…

LABOR UNIONS

We are thankful for the officers, board, and members of our very own Chicago Federation of Musicians who work for our fair wages, safe working conditions, and job security. Our president Terryl Jares and vice-president Leo Murphy stood faithfully by our sides for support and advice through our recent contract negotiation. We are also thankful for those who came before us, who set the standards so that the Lyric Opera of Chicago could grow to become the world-class opera company of recent history.

Additionally, we are thankful for our dear brothers and sisters of the Lyric Opera Chorus, members of the American Guild of Musical Artists, whose richly united voices give us goosebumps. When the chorus joins forces with the orchestra, time stands still.

Thank you to workers from many different unions who joined us on the picket line and provided food and words of encouragement. You are Chicago's musicians, teachers, nurses, hotel workers, teamsters, screen actors, and many others. Your faithful support has not gone unnoticed, and we want you to know—we will be there for you too.
