For the past 25 years Door County, WI has been the home of Midsummer’s Music Festival featuring chamber music of all kinds in a wide variety of locations including homes, art galleries, museums, churches, barns, and boat houses – the kind of intriguing and beguiling spaces that make Door County such a favorite vacation haunt. Over those 25 years many Lyric Orchestra members have added the luster of their voices to the Midsummer ensemble of winds, strings, and piano including Jonathan Boen, Principal Horn; Greg Sarchet and Collins Trier, Bass; Keith Conant, Pat Brennan, and Terri VanValkinburgh, Viola; Pauli Ewing and Laura Miller, Violin; Judith Lewis, oboe; and William Billingham, piano. Members performing this year from Lyric include Walter Preucil, Assistant Principal Cello, James Berkenstock, Principal Bassoon, Jean Berkenstock, former Principal Flute, and Ann Palen, violin. The Berkenstocks are co-founders of the festival, which this season will present over 35 appealing concerts in settings of great intimacy and beauty.
